There are a lot of different ways to learn about web design and development. Blogs and online tutorials can be extremely useful (and they were instrumental for me), but YouTube is also a great source of content. There are many channels that share design and development tutorials, as well as news and trends, and even tips for growing your own business as a freelancer or finding a job.
If you’re interested in learning more about web design and development, here are 15 YouTube channels that you should definitely check out. There is a good bit of variety here, as some focus on more technical aspects of web development, while others are design-oriented, and a few produce a lot of videos on the business aspects.
1. DesignCourse
With over 400,000 subscribers, Gary Simon’s DesignCourse channel is a great resource. Gary has 20 years of development experience and on his channel he has a huge collection of educational videos that will teach you how to become a web developer. He publishes two new videos each week, so there is always plenty of new stuff to watch and learn.
Gary has a lot of experience creating courses for big names in the industry like Envato and Lynda, so he’s very comfortable teaching and guiding you through the lessons that you’ll need to learn.
Although a lot of the videos focus on coding, Gary also covers topics related to design and UI on his channel. If you’re looking for a place to learn more and grow your web design skills, this is a great place to start.
2. Will Paterson
Many web designers also do logo design, and logo design is the primary focus for Will Paterson. He releases multiple new videos each week and a majority of them cover logo design in some form.
In addition to logo design, Will also covers some general design-related topics, and he’s got some great videos on freelancing and building a business.
You’ll love the series where Will critque’s the logo designs of some of his subscribers. It’s a great way to learn and see the thought process of a pro, and maybe you’ll even be able to get your own logo critiqued.

As I’m sure you would expect, the content from LearnCode.academy focusses mostly on the coding and development aspect. With more than 600,000 subscribers, this is an extremely popular channel. New videos aren’t added all that frequently right now (11 videos added in the past year) but there is a ton of great content throughout the archives.

The content covered on Derek Banas’ channel is broader than many of the other channels featured here. You’ll find videos on things like coding websites, creating video games, exercising, and many other topics (like a recent video on how to play the ukelele).
